There are a few different belief’s about the 2300 day prophecy of Daniel 8:13. I’ve looked at the different beliefs and have done some pretty extensive study of Holy Scripture. While no one knows everything, and I’m sure I’ve just scratched the surface of Scripture, I try to let the Spirit of Elohim guide be through the text He preserved for us, and look at it as a whole. In this, I’m going to try to explain why I believe the church age of Philadelphia ended in 1844.

Before I get into this 1844 date, it’s a common belief that this date surrounds a Seventh Day Adventist doctrine. While they do focus on this date, I am not Seventh Day Adventist, nor do I belong to any other denomination. It’s my belief that denominations are from the mind of Lucifer, a design to divide the church and bring it to it’s knee’s through infighting.

END DAYS
Many believe the “end days” are still yet to come; or maybe we are starting to see the beginning. With this belief, I then questioned, “If the book is only for the end, why the book of Revelation is surrounded by a blessing for ALL those who read, understand, and keep the book?” (Rev 1:3; 22:7).

Daniel was told to seal the book until the time of the end (Dan 12:4); this is the time of the end and not the end of time. We know that the prophecies of Daniel to not extend to the end of time because the prophecies merely go to the feet of the statue, or little horn that arose from Rome: these are the same as the first beast of Rev 13. We understand the connection based on the time prophecy given: “time, times, and dividing of time” (3 1/2 years) (Dan 7:25), and “42 months” (3 1/2 years)(Rev 13:5). Understanding from Revelation 13, there is another empire to arise, yet Daniel does not talk of this empire at all. Therefore, we understand that Daniel’s prophecies do not give detail to the end of time, but rather the time of the end.

In Revelation 22:12, an angel told John to NOT seal his book, because the end is near. When we understand these truths, we see the time of the end started shortly after the writing of Revelation. Therefore, the end has been going on for about 1500 years (rough estimate based on history to prophecy revelation).

THIRD TEMPLE
While I was raised on the teaching, and it’s very popular today, causing many people to look for the manifestation, I find no where in Scripture to where a PHYSICAL third temple will be built.

In Scripture, we see notation of two “third” Tabernacles; or Tabernacles in the “time of the end”. One is the the body (1 Cor 6:19-20), and the other is the Tabernacle which is in Heaven (Rev 15:5); to which Y’shua is our High Priest (Heb 8:1-2; 9:11). Therefore, the third Tabernacle, the one that is established in the time of the end, is our body, and in Heaven: one is a symbol while the other is quite real.

Yet, what about the sanctuary and sacrifice mentioned in Daniel 8:11-12? It is the misunderstanding of this prophecy that has many people looking for a PHYSICAL third temple on Earth, and that cause people to think the 2300 days revolve around that temple. TIME PROPHECY
In Daniel 8, we see another vision given to Daniel. Within this vision is a time prophecy:

Daniel 8:13
Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking, “How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled underfoot?

This is the ONLY time prophecy given within this vision: this fact is important to understand because an explanation of a time prophecy, in this vision, is given in chapter 9 (Dan 9:23), yet there’s been no other vision or time prophecy besides this 2300 day prophecy in Daniel 8.

In Daniel 9:24, we see 70 weeks have been “determined”. “Determined” is translated from the Hebrew word ḥâṯaḵ which means divided from or cut off from. So, this 70 week time prophecy is cut off from the time prophecy of the vision that is being explained.

There is no further explanation of the time prophecy of 2300 days, only this period of 70 weeks which is a part of it, and has been divided to explain the event’s of that 70 week period. Since the two are related, an no further explanation is given to the 2300 days, the two would start at the same time.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

Daniel 9:25
“Know therefore and understand, That from the going forth of the command To restore and build Jerusalem”

We are told that the time prophecy starts with the command to restore and build Jerusalem. Once we find the date of this command, all the other dates fall into place.

Ezra 7:11-13
11 Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra the priest, the scribe, even a scribe of the words of the commandments of the Lord, and of his statutes to Israel. 12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time. 13 I make a decree, that all they of the people of Israel, and of his priests and Levites, in my realm, which are minded of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

There were two prior decrees but neither seen the rebuilding. It was this decree by Artaxerxes that actually went forth and caused the rebuilding of both Jerusalem and the Temple. But, how do we know the year?

Ezra 7:8
8 And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, which was in the seventh year of the king.

So, we see it was in the seventh year of the rein of Artaxerxes. When we go to history we see that he ascended the throne in 465BC. During this time, Babylon and Persia used the ascension year (or post dating) system, which did not include the first year until the new year passed. The new year then recorded as the first year of reign. Therefore, dating would be recorded as ascension year, first year, second year, third year, etc. This would put the fifth month of the seventh year at 457BC.

Now that we know when the decree was made we then start counting a year for a day. If you want to do this for the 70 week prophecy (490 years) you will see that it foretells Christ’s baptism in 27AD and His crucifixion in 31AD. But, to see when the cleansing of the temple is we must count 2300 years from this point. Understanding that there is no 0 year, 2300 years from 457 BC is 1844 AD. Why is this year important?

CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE
To understand what is meant by the “Cleansing of the Temple”, we must look at the Tabernacle example given to us on Sinai. The cleansing of the sanctuary took place at the end of the Jewish year. It was a day of judgment symbolizing the final judgment; this is known as Yom Kippur.

The High Priest would go into the Most Holy. When he came out of the Most Holy, he made atonement for the entire sanctuary; cleansing it of the recorded iniquity. This means all sin that was recorded was removed from the sanctuary; so even the record of sin was removed.

WHICH TABERNACLE?
Since we understand there are two types of Tabernacles in the time of the end, the body and the real in Heaven, which Sanctuary will be cleansed?

We understand that the church will go into a apostolic state in the time of the end (2 Tim 3:1-7; Rev 3:14-22). According to popular belief, the only way this could pertain to the body would be by the coming of Christ and judgement. If this is true, then this prophecy MUST pertain to the Heavenly Sanctuary and it’s a real event within that Tabernacle.

PRE-JUDGMENT?
If this is talking about the Heavenly Sanctuary, and since this is referring to the date of 1844, does this mean judgement begins at this time, long before the very end?

Rev 22:12
And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

Understanding that ONLY those who are living in Christ will rise in the end, and the remaining of the dead will not rise until the end of the 1000 years (Rev 20:5), AND, that Y’shua COMES WITH the reward, we must understand that some type of pre-judgment is taking place. And, we must then understand that this pre-judgement has something to do with who goes and who stays.

IT’S IN THE NAME
In today’s society, especially in America, a name means very little more than an identity of a person. Yet, in the Bible we see that names mean something important. In the Bible, when a birth is described, we see a name is given to a child because of a specific characteristic of the birth; and the name is a meaning, or symbol, of that characteristic.

We also see that God took importance to names: He changed Abram’s name to Abraham and Jacob’s name to Israel; this because of the meaning of the name. It’s important to understand that God see’s the meaning of a name as significant.

PHILADELPHIA
Let’s tie all this together and I’ll show you why I believe that Philadelphia ended in 1844 and Laodicea rose up.

We understand there was a time prophecy of 2300 days and this time prophecy started in 457BC; meaning it ended in 1844. We understand this time prophecy revolves around the “cleansing of the Sanctuary” which is shown to us as a time of judgment; according to the example given on Sinai. We understand that there is some type of pre-judgement. We also see that names, and the meaning of names, means something to God.

Laodicea means “People Judged”, and since the meaning of a name is important to God, we link the meaning of this name with the prophecy of the cleansing. Since we see the cleansing, or day of judgement, started in 1844, and we link the “people judged” with this time, we understand that Laodicea started in 1844; thus, the Philadelphia age ended at this time also.

HONEST JUDGEMENT
If we judge the condition of this church age honestly, we see this age is the “poster child” of 2 Timothy 3:1-7 and Revelation 3:14-22. Even though some may doubt the date of 1844, it’s hard to doubt the fulfillment of the prophecy of this church age; which is Laodicea.
