ABIDING WITH FRUIT - Part 2 of 5

John 15:6
“If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

When talking about “abiding in the vine” we see that we must be seeking after Christ with all we have (Matt 12:42). In John 15:7, we see rewards given to those who abide, as a further understanding, when we look at Heb 11:6, we see rewards for those who DILIGENTLY seek Him; therefore, a stronger link is made for the understanding of what abiding is.

As a diligent seeking of Christ is very clear in Scripture (Matt 13:44; Matt 13:45-46; Matt 12:42), and the “type” in this equation; the “anti-type” is also clearly listed (Matt 13:22; 2 Tim 3:4; 1 John 2:15). As we see in Scripture, seeking after Christ is the forsaking of all worldly things for the desire of more of Him; and His work of building in the Kingdom by the salvation of souls. The other side of this is clearly defined by those, in the church, who have a greater desire of worldly possessions, activities, and cares of this world rather than the study and works of Christ.
