NEW RELIGION

One day, my wife was listening to a large syndicated christian radio station called “FISH”. A caller called in with a dilemma: they had a previous promise made to their church, to attend and assist in a possible soul winning event; but, they also had tickets to a big playoff game for the same day. They really did not want to miss the game and did not know how to get out of their commitment at church. The host’s at FISH said to go to the game, “God will understand”.

Attached is an interesting article. In it, it talks about how sports is a new religion. We know we can not serve two masters, but professing christians would dare not miss a game of jr’s or of a big team; while happily missing time spent with Adonai.

This problem is happening more than with church, but in every aspect of our lives: church is a good thermometer for the way we handle these things in our daily lives. For the cares of this world, we are willing to give up the things of God; because of this, the truth of the knowledge that brings salvation is being choked out (Mark 4:19). The professing christians are no longer a witness unto Y’shua, but rather unto what they will be willing to do in replace of the One who wants us saved.

The article also points out an unfortunate response by church leaders: COMPROMISE. The churches are now changing service days and times in order to get people to church. They are also starting sports programs of their own. It’s a common response, and one of great error. Pastors say, “I’m only trying to get them in to hear the word”; yet, actions speak louder than words. If we are willing to compromise, and work around a specific situation that the world is controlling, we can not teach about none compromise: we show that compromise is ok, and when the next big worldly thing arrises, they will be gone again because this is what the church taught.

While YHWH wants that none will be lost, and Y’shua came to seek and save that which is lost, I dare someone to find where Christ compromised with the things of the world to accomplish His goals. They are looking for someone who loves them enough to DROP the things of this world, who will put THEM FIRST, who see’s Them as AUTHORITY in their lives.

I mentioned, in a previous article: “When we know the truth, we are required to live in and teach that truth; otherwise, we are teaching the teachings of anti-christ (1 Tim 6:3-5; 2 Cor 11:4; 2 John 1:7-10)”. After posting the article, the Spirit of Elohim lead me to another passage. It’s one of those you read over and over and will not see what is written until the Spirit shows you.

In talking to the Galatians about being easily moved to a perverted Gospel (Gal 1:6-7); which is to say, any form of man’s religion, theology, and even compromise which is in opposition of Holy Scripture, Paul then says:

Galatians 1:10 “For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.”

When what we teach and what we do is for the pleasing of men; such as in the attempt to keep the numbers, we are not of Christ but of the world.

If we profess Christ, we need to follow the example He laid before us (1 Peter 2:21; 1 Cor 11:1). We need to teach, and more importantly ACT in the manner given to us. Nothing should come before our God, our Creator, our Savior, our Lord: NOTHING. When God say’s “gather” and the world (sports and other activities) says gather, who shall we say “no” to? Who do we show is first in our lives?

Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
