WHEN DID THE TEN COMMANDMENTS START - Section 1

1.1 The Law Before Man
He that commits sin is of the devil; for the devil sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 1 John 3:8
NOTE: The Ten Commandments had to be before man because satan sinned and where there is sin there must be a law:
- Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4
- Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Romans 4:15
- For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Romans 5:13

1.2 Before Moses
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Genesis 26:5
NOTE:
- Ten Commandments written during time of Moses, God said Abraham kept His Commandments
- Law written: Exodus 20:1-17

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS USED FOR - Section 2

2.1 Know Sin By
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You will not covet. Romans 7.7

Now we know that what things soever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. 1 John 3:4

Because the law works wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Romans 4:15

Romans 3:20 20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
NOTE:
The Law NEVER justified us, thus no one could ever, even in Old Covenant times, be justified by the Law. The Law only shows us the sin.

2.2 Judgement based on
So speak you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:12

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:19-20

Romans 2:12 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;
NOTE:
There are two groups which perish. Those who are sinners not knowing the Law and those who know the Law and do not abide by the Law. Those who don’t know the Law are merely cast away but those who know are judged first; to show them their error then they are cast away.

In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Y’shua the Messiah according to my gospel. Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God, And know his will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; And are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which has the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. You therefore which teach another, teach you not yourself? you that preaches a man should not steal, do you steal? You that says a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? you that detest idols, do you commit sacrilege? You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonors God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. Romans 2:16-24

2.3 For Salvation
When one looks at the Bible as a whole, no one can ever come to the conclusion that we can be saved by either faith or deeds alone; but it requires BOTH faith AND deeds:
And if you call on the Father, who without respect of persons judges according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
1 Peter 1:17

you have received of us how you ought to walk and to please God, so you would abound more and more. 2 For you know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Y’shua. 3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication: 4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor; 5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God: 7 For God has not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
1 Thess 4:1-6, 7

For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Romans 2:13

But whoever looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. 26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridle not his tongue, but deceives his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
James 1:25-26

RESULTS OF THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - Section 3

3.1 Breaking Brings Death
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Y’shua the Messiah our Lord. Romans 6:23

3.2 Keeping Brings Promise and Blessing
But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. James 1:25

O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep ALL my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever! Deuteronomy 5:29

3.3 Keeping Gives Access to Heaven and Tree of LIfe
Revelation 22:14
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

WHO MUST KEEP THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - Section 4

4.1 Christ Followers
To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that says, I know him, and keeps not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:3-4

For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, Hebrews 10:26
Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for A PERPETUAL COVENANT. Exodus 31:16
NOTE:
- Perpetual means ever lasting
  • Who are the children of Israel? We are, because Y’shua made a covenant ONLY with the house of Israel; therefore we must become Israel to be in a covenant with Him. If we are not in a covenant with Y’shua we are lost (See also The 13 Tribes of Israel and Ten Commandments 3/11 - Yet, Who are the Jews?).

1 Corinthians 7:19 19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

1 Timothy 1:8-11 (KJV) 8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; 9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for murders of men, 10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for thieves, for liars, for perjured persons, and IF THERE BE ANY OTHER THING CONTRARY TO SOUND DOCTRINE; 11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

Exodus 12:49
One law shall be to him that is home-born (Israel), and unto the stranger (gentile) that sojourneth among you.

4.2 Ten Commandments in the End Days
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Revelation 22:14

And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Y’shua the Messiah. Revelation 12:17

And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascends up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Y’shua. Revelation 14:9-12

2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 (ASV) 8 And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Y’shua shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of his coming; 9 even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God sends them a working of error, that they should believe a lie: 12 that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
NOTE:
- The KJV says: “Then that Wicked be revealed”. “Wicked” from the Greek word “anomos” which is lawless or wicked because of lawlessness.
- Paul is talking about one who does not keep the Ten Commandments. Those who follow will perish because they refuse to love the truth and so be saved. Because they REFUSE, “Elohim sends them strong delusions, so that they will believe the lie”

GUILTY FOR TRANSGRESSING - Section 5

5.1 Guilty for Just One
If you fulfill the royal law according to the scripture, You will love your neighbor as yourself, you do well:
But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law.
So speak you, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. James 2:8-12

ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS GONE - Section 6

6.1 Y’shua Fulfills
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
For verily I say unto you, Until heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, until all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19

NOTE:
- Reformers wrote on this: He shall have no place in the Church; which is to say, “he will have no part in heaven”
- If “fulfill means gone, then no one will be saved as “all righteousness” is gone.
And Y’shua answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness. Then he suffered him. Matthew 3:15

6.2 Y’shua Teaches on the Ten Commandments
And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
And he said unto him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if you wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. Matthew 19:16-17

NOTE:
- After Y’shua starts to quote the Ten Commandments. He did not give the first four because this mans issue was with the love of man, not with the love of God.
- Since Y’shua did not quote the first four does that mean we can have idol? Nor does it mean any other part is gone.

If you love me, keep my commandments. John 14:15

Well has Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. 7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. 8 For laying aside the commandment of God, you hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things you do. 9 And he said unto them, Full well you reject the commandment of God, that you may keep your own tradition. 10 For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother; and, Whoso curse father or mother, let him die the death: 11 But you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me; he shall be free. 12 And you suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother; 13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you. Mark 7:6-13

6.3 Magnified by Y’shua
Isaiah 42:21
21 The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.

You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You will not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: Matthew 5:21-22

You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You will not commit adultery:
But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart. Matthew 5:27-28

you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You will not forswear yourself, but will perform unto the Lord your oaths:
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Neither will you swear by your head, because you canst not make one hair white or black.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:33-37

6.4 Y’shua Replaced with “New” Commandments
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Y’shua said unto him, You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, You will love your neighbor as yourself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:36-40

And Y’shua answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And you will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, You will love your neighbor as yourself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Mark 12:29-31

NOTE:
If these were “new” laws then they would not appear in the Old Testament
- And you will love God your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Deuteronomy 6:5
- You will not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you will love your neighbor as yourself: I am God. Leviticus 19:18

- The Ten Commandments were summed up into two parts:
1. Love God
2. Love your neighbor
- For this, You will not commit adultery, You will not kill, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, You will not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You will love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13:9
For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; You will love your neighbor as yourself. Galatians 5:14
- For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 John 5:3

And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?  He said unto him, What is written in the law? how read you? And he answering said, You will love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. And he said unto him, You has answered right: this do, and you will live. Luke 10:25-28
NOTE:
The “New Covenant” was not yet complete, and the “New Testament” not yet written; thus he was quoting from Deuteronomy and Leviticus.

6.5 Law Valid Today
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
For verily I say unto you, Until heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, until all be fulfilled.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:17-19

And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail. Luke 16:17

But he answered and said unto them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curse father or mother, let him die the death.
But you say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever you might be profited by me;
And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
This people draws nigh unto me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Matthew 15:3-9

But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashed hands defiles not a man. Matthew 15:18-20

And he says unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, commits adultery against her.
And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she commits adultery. Mark 10:11-12

Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
And Y’shua said unto him, Why call you me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.
You know the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honor your father and mother. Mark 10:17-19

If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. John 15:10
NOTE:
  • In context: Y’shua is talking about abiding in Him (the vine) and we must keep His commands. He then says that His command is Love one another to which we refer back to Leviticus 19:18 to which He first gave the Law which is the summing of the Laws of God (Romans 3:19; Galatians 5:14)

Galatians 3:16-17 16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He said not, two seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to your seed, which is Christ. 17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot be nullified, that it should make the promise of none effect.
NOTE:
Nothing can break a covenant made by God: The original covenant still stands; thus the “New” covenant is actually a “RENEWED” Covenant. The Hebrew word used in Jeremiah 31:31-34 is “chadasha” or “hadasha” which means to renew.
Hebrews 8:6-7 6 But now has he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.
Without the “first covenant” there could not have been a building upon for the “second covenant”; Thus, it’s not a “new” covenant but a “renewed” covenant.

6.6 Each Command Discussed in the New Testament
The modern church is having difficulty with the different laws and instructions in the Bible; between old and new. A law remains, is amended, or is recinded. How do we know which is which from the Old Testament to the New? It’s actually so simple to understand, we miss it. A law (or instruction) remains if repeated in the New Testament; with no immediate amendment given.
1. First Commandment
Then says Y’shua unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, You will worship the Lord your God, and him only will you serve. Matthew 4:10

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See you do it not: I am your fellowservant, and of your brethren that have the testimony of Y’shua: worship God: for the testimony of Y’shua is the spirit of prophecy. Revelation 19:10

2. Second Commandment
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 1 John 5:21

Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by are and man's device. Acts 17:29

3. Third Commandment
Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1 Timothy 6:1

4. Fourth Commandment
And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath. Mark 2:27-28

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. Hebrews 4:4

5. Fifth Commandment
Honor your father and your mother: and, You will love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 19:19

Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;

That it may be well with thee, and you mayest live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3

6. Sixth Commandment
For this, You will not commit adultery, You will not kill, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, You will not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You will love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13:9

For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law. James 2:11

7. Seventh Commandment
He says unto him, Which? Y’shua said, You will do no murder, You will not commit adultery, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, Matthew 19:18

8. Eighth Commandment
For this, You will not commit adultery, You will not kill, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, You will not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You will love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13:9

9. Ninth Commandment
For this, You will not commit adultery, You will not kill, You will not steal, You will not bear false witness, You will not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, You will love your neighbor as yourself. Romans 13:9

10. Tenth Commandment
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You will not covet. Romans 7.7

EFFORTS TO PROVE THEM GONE - Section 7

7.1 Romans 6:14-15
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Romans 6:14-15
NOTE:
- Grace saves us, works does not save us. Sin must not rule over us, transgression of the Law must not be part of our lives. So, since grace saves me, shall I now be able to sin? “Certainly not!”.
- Verse 14 says, “sin shall not have dominion over you”. What does this mean?
Romans 6:3-6 3 Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized into Y’shua the Messiah were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
Romans 6:12-13 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.

7.2 Paul’s Teaching of the Ten Commandments
Many Say that Paul taught the Ten Commandments were no more:
For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins Hebrews 10:26

For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. Romans 2:13

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. Romans 3:20

Behold, you are called a Jew, and rest in the law, and make your boast of God,
And know his will, and approve the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law;
And are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which has the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.
You therefore which teach another, teach you not yourself? you that preaches a man should not steal, do you steal?
You that says a man should not commit adultery, do you commit adultery? you that detest idols, do you commit sacrilege?
You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonors you God?
For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
For circumcision verily profits, if you keep the law: but if you be a breaker of the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision.
Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfill the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law?
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. Romans 2:17-29

Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law. Romans 3.31

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Romans 7:12

You that make your boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonors you God? For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. Romans 2:16-24

7.3 Nailed to the Cross
Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctified to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. Hebrews 9:1-15
NOTE:
- Make note of “meat and drink” and then we know that every time Paul talks of this, it is definitely the ceremonial law (See Section 8.3).
- And it shall be the prince's part to give burnt offerings, and MEAT offerings, and DRINK offerings, in the feasts, and in the NEW MOON, and in the SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, TO MAKE RECONCILIATION for the house of Israel. Ezekiel 45:17

7.4 Not Saved By the Law
As discussed in sections 2.1 and 8.1, the Ten Commandments shows sin but it did not save anyone, even in the old covenant.
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, has found?
For if Abraham were justified by works, he has whereof to glory; but not before God.
For what says the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Now to him that works is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that works not, but believes on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:1-5
NOTE:
- We are NOT saved by the Law. We are saved by Grace. We CANNOT be saved without keeping the Law as doing so is acknowledging a higher authority than ourself. If we keep it exactly like God said, we acknowledge HIS authority. We then acknowledge our dependence upon Y’shua and acknowledge His righteousness.

James 2:14-26 14 What does it profit, my brethren, though a man say he has faith, and have not works? can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be you warmed and filled; notwithstanding you give them not those things which are needful to the body; what does it profit? 17 Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone. 18 Yea, a man may say, You has faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. 19 You believe that there is one God; you doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? 22 See you how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? 23 And the scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. 24 You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. 25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? 26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

7.5 For the Jew Only

Exodus 12:49
One law shall be to him that is home-born (Israel), and unto the stranger (gentile) that sojourneth among you.

MORE THAN ONE LAW - Section 8

8.1 Four Laws
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. Genesis 26:5
NOTE:
- There was more than one law written in the Bible. Four separate laws are within the Mosaic Law, so eagerly talked about being gone. Only three laws are recorded in the Bible. The fourth law is the talmud, which is doctrinal law. This is the law that Y’shua would always come against the pharisees for, because they made the worship of God grievous.
- As we see in Genesis 26:5, there were three laws discussed in scripture, 613 total commands.
Ten Commandments - The Law that defines sin
Laws - The law that covers, or washes away, the sin caused by breaking the Ten Commandments (As with the blood of Christ in the New Covenant)
Statues - Also known as “precepts”, these laws provided instruction for health; both physical and spiritual.

8.2 Statues and Commandments
24 And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. 25 And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he has commanded us.
Deut 6:24-25

Ten Commandments - Author and Placement

And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke; and YOU SHALL PUT THEM IN THE ARK.’ Deuteronomy 10:2

Ceremonial Law - Author and Placement
So it was, when Moses had completed writing the words of this law in a book, when they were finished, that Moses commanded the Levites, who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying: “Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you; Deuteronomy 31:24-26
